This is a rough translation from an article which appeared in 1983
in the World Journal, a San Francisco Chinese publication.
Native-Born Female American Writer Coaches English.
(Bryna Stevens) coaches privately.
An American writer and teacher, Mrs. Bryna Donaldson announces her
interest to coach English to Chinese nationals in speaking, reading,
and writing, on a one to one basis. The tuition fee is as follows:-
At student¹s residence - $15.00 per hour
At tutor¹s residence - 10.00 per hour
Interested parties may contact her at (415) 474-6651
Mrs. Donaldson taught music privately since she was 17. Her interest
diverted to history and literature for children, which started her writing
career. She wrote ³Ben Franklin¹s Glass Armonica² and
reading materials for children in grades 2 and 4.
About a year ago Mrs. Donaldson improvised a simple and easy to understand
way to instruct Chinese students in entry level English, reading, writing,
commercial English and general correspondence. She also recorded some
audio tapes featuring correct pronunciation for students to listen to
and practice speaking correctly.
Mrs. Donaldson feels Chinese students usually respect their teachers
and she takes pleasure in communicatings with them.

From
Handel and the Famous Sword Swallower of Halle
©1990
People in Halle, Germany, were upset. George Handel, their old
barber-surgeon had decided to remarry! Sixty was too old to take on
a new wife, people said, especially since his new wife was only thirty-two.
But George Handel wasn't a person who spent much time worrying what
people thought, and so in April 1693 he married pretty Dorothea Taust.
